Cornhole is growing at the fastest speed ever and it’s not showing signs slowing down anytime soon! One of the best things about cornhole is anyone can play, anyone can win. This game is great for everyone!

Cornholes Top Female Players

As a woman player myself, I wanted to know what some of cornholes top female players in the Country have to say about the sport and what drives their passion to play a game that once started in the backyard. We asked 3 women from different coasts a couple questions about themselves and what advice they would give to players looking to get in the game today.

Noelle Westbrook- West Coast – Dos Palos, CA

Noelle Westbrook Cornhole

What inspired you to play? I was playing at a Superbowl party and it was so fun.  I watched a friend (Gus Coronado) throwing bags in the hole time after time and I just wanted to be that good

What are your favorite bags? I like Slide-Rites but am changing over to GameChangers.

What is your biggest success thus far? I have previously won the ACO California Women’s Championship and CCA’s State Championship (This was both men and women). I have also won Women’s 2 out of the last 3 years at the Wild West Shootout.

What tips can you share with beginners? Practice, practice, practice, play, play, play, and always have FUN… Get that flat bag and consistency is key.

What do you look forward to this year?  I just love to play… I love the friendships I made across the Country and especially the state.  The people I have met playing this game make even the losses, worth it.  When you are having a bad day your cornhole community picks you up.

What local league you are currently representing?  I play with DPL (Dawg Pound League). They are a bunch of fun guys and gals who just love to play the game.  The DPL players represent everything I love about the game… They just want to have fun and play

Stacia Pugh- Mid West – Cleveland, Ohio

What inspired you to play? My dad got me into cornhole and playing at local cookouts. I really enjoyed spending time with my dad and his trash talking brought out the competitive side of me so I secretly went and bought my own set of boards and bags and surprised him on my skill at a local game!

What are your favorite bags? Reynolds Pro Advantage and Reynolds Pro- Edge Speed is also a close second because I love the feel of carpet in my hand and it gives me a better control. Carpet plays a little easier for higher accuracy opposed to old suede and doesn’t take hard kicks.

What is your biggest success thus far? This last year was my first year in the Pro circuit and I wasn’t sure how I would do but was thrilled to make the finals almost every time. Being on ESPN 4 to 5 times and winning money! I also won Queen of Cornhole in 2014 and I took 3rd in the open with all of the men who played!

What tips can you share with beginners? Throw a flat bag. I wished I’d done this earlier in my career. It would have improved my game so much faster!

What do you look forward to this year? By far, I’m most excited to play with Christine (Papcke). We were quite a force back in the ACO days and we finished team of the year with the Mens!

What local league you are currently representing? I play in the Cleveland Cornhole League because Dave Weiser has been running it for over 10 years and he is so detail oriented, kind and knowledgeable and I wouldn’t be where I am today without him!

Samantha Finley- East Coast – Clermont, FL

Samantha Finley cornhole pro

What inspired you to play? I started playing with my mom and her friends in the backyard. Then I started to play local tournaments. One day, my mom went on a job related trip to Ohio where she met Stacia Pugh and other great players. When she returned she shared all the excitement with me and the rest is cornhole history!

What are your favorite bags? Reynolds (I like them for singles and GameChangers for doubles)

What is your biggest success thus far? Winning Women’s Doubles last month at the ACL World Championship in King of Prussia, PA and coming in 2nd at ACO World, last year. I won state for Women’s in the last 4 years. And, I played on ESPN!

What tips can you share with beginners? Practicing and consistency is key! Going into blind draws and playing with stronger players. I play at least 2 times a week but the more you play the better you will get

What do you look forward to this year? This year I am looking forward to playing on the Pro circuit with my partner Cheyenne, attending all the nationals and seeing what we can do together as a unit. We want to win back to back championships!

What local league you are currently representing?  I have love for all the leagues! I play with Polk County Cornhole, Lakeside Cornhole, and South Florida Cornhole. I like the competition and exposure along with the different opportunities that have come from playing with ACL this last year.

Based on the answers from all 3 of cornholes top female players, the most important tips for beginners is learning how to “throw a flat bag” and lots of practice. That is great advice that I am going to take. It was both fun and a great learning time chatting with 3 of cornholes top female players in the country. I also want to thank Cornhole Addicts for giving me a place and audience to share my cornhole passion with.
