Drag Ins and Smokin J’s Cornhole Bags

Thank you to Tampa Bay Cornhole for giving us the chance to check out their Smokin J’s and Drag Ins cornhole bags. I have thrown the Smokin J’s once before and enjoyed them so it’s only right that we share them with the Addicts Community.
Both of these bags are ACL Approved for this 2019/20 season

Out of Box Thoughts:

First thoughts when I opened the box was how vibrant the bag colors and logo printed on bag are. The logo is nice and big and I also noticed that on the Drag In bags, my logo is printed on the “Slick” side of the bag where as most competitors print on the “Stick” side. This is appealing to me since your logo will be seen more when you throw a blocker or stick side down!

Overall appearance and feel:

Both bags from Tampa Bay Cornhole feature rounded corners and are stitched very well around the seams as well as the final closing stitch. Both feel like they have a small bead resin inside. Right out of the box, they both have their own feel.

Smokin J’s are a double sided fast bag. You can clearly see and feel the material on each side of the bag is different. With the size of the bag and the smaller resin beads, it gives the bag a looser feel in the hand but the overall material still has the “new” feel and needs to be thrown a couple times to loosen up. These bags are comparable to an All-Slide and once broken in, will most definitely perform the same

Drag Ins are a stick and slick type bag with a medium fast material and a felt-like material on the other. The slick side of the Drag Ins has the same material on one side of the Smokin J’s. This bag has a loose feel but feels a little more ready to go right out of the box. If I had to compare it to another bag, visually, of course the Slide-Rite comes to mind. That is the bag I think of most when it comes to slick n stick bags. 

Weight and size:

The Smokin J’s measure just under 6” at approx 5 ⅞” and each bag weighed in on the heavier side, heavier than most bags I have tested, at around 16.2 oz making the stack of 4 bags 64.5 oz. Definitely not saying this is a bad thing. Some bag manufacturers offer both a 16 and 16.2 oz bag. It’s all about what you like. Larger bags with more fill give the same feel as a smaller bag with less fill.

The Drag Ins measured right around 5 ¾” each and had a weight of 16 oz each making the stack of 4 come in at 63.9oz. These bags feel nice. The right amount of bag with the perfect amount of fill. And, after a couple of throws, they loosened up quick.

Bag Performance Thoughts:

I was able to test these bags from Tampa Bay Cornhole against the fast and slow side of the new Reynolds Pro X. What I found was that the fast side of the Smokin J’s are faster than the Pro X on the fast side. And the Drag Ins are stickier than the Pro X on the slow side.
