ACL Virtual is the American Cornhole League’s new platform that allows players to compete in tournaments without having to leave their home! Since we are all still practicing social distancing and all tournaments and league have been put on hold for now, streaming live to play cornhole is the preferred and responsible way today.

Most of us are familiar with Ghost Cornhole which has been going strong for a couple months. It offers a way to play against anyone around the world right from your own backyard. Pretty sweet, huh? Recently Scoreholio got on board offering their version Streamholio but now there’s a new kid on the block, ACL Virtual.

What is ACL Virtual and how does it work?

This is the American Cornhole League’s version of online playing. It is similar to the other 2 in many ways but with a twist of its own. Rather than playing against an imaginary “ghost” you are basically shooting a 10 round/ 40 bag Dekaround and using your total points.

So here is how it works. Each time you throw 4 bags, that is considered 1 round. Throw 4 bags and tally up your total score. Then, walk down to the other end, grab your bags and stay on the same side and throw 4 bags back. That would be round 2. Repeat for 10 rounds keeping track of your score using their Score Tracker app which can be seen in the 3rd video below.

How do I get into an ACL Virtual Tournament?

The first thing that needs to happen is an ACL Director will create an event within the ACL Admin Portal. Once the event is created, they will open that event for player registration at https://app.iplayacl.com. When the event is marked open, players can login to their player profile and go to “Event Registration” then click “Virtual Event Registration” to find a list of available virtual tournaments. Players will be able to pay the directly from within the app. See videos below for more info on how to do this.

All matches will be limited to 10 rounds with a max score of 120. Doubles matches will combine the score of both partners for a max score of 240. Since players will be using the ACL Bag Tracker to keep their score, stats from the round will become immediately available at the conclusion of the match!

In addition to tracking each bag, players will also be required to live stream their match. Directors will set the individual rules for broadcasting, but the standard method for live streaming will be to stream to a Facebook Event page created by the ACL Director.

You will have a specific time frame as to get your games player which will be set by the Director and laid out in the event. Failure to get your game in within the allowed time will result in a forfeit of the match.

Please be patient as this is still new and everything is being tested while playing live tournaments. But as more tournaments are played, everyone learns the system and any bugs get worked out, things will run much smoother and be more fun for everyone involved.

If this is your first time doing something like this there are a couple of things you need before you can get started. You will obviously need bags and boards but to help make things better, we recommend getting a score tower.
